We are excited to share our new webpage focused on ARPA with you! It has resources for nonprofits as well as Government leaders to make sure this essential support helps the nonprofit sector. The page also includes success stories from across the nonprofit sector helping to show how nonprofits are vital to our recovery. And as we consider returning to the workplace, we have a post about bringing back your volunteers as well as a COVID Cultural Impact Study.

We are pleased to announce that Washington Nonprofits has launched a Community Slack for nonprofit leaders across the state! Join us, connect with other leaders, and find out how we can work together to complete our missions! Washington Nonprofits is also hiring! And learn this month about health insurance options for nonprofits and how to tackle some of the common HR challenges nonprofits face.

This month we are learning about compensation in the nonprofit sector, learning from the Ethical Rainmaker Podcast, and a new FAQ on E-Filing your IRS Form 990. We will also be launching a nonprofit Community Slack we would love for you to be a part of! And finally, communicating with pronouns is an opportunity for all of us to learn about ourselves and one another.

We have two major announcements for you! Our Annual Report for 2020 is available and SB 5034, The Washington Nonprofit Corporation Act, has passed and will become law! This law is the first major overhaul of the statutes governing nonprofits in our state in 50 years, and bring much needed modernizations to our system. We will be hosting events on the Act to on what nonprofit leaders need to know!

This month we present a special edition of the Connector focused on the Washington State Nonprofit Conference! We are so excited to tell you more about why the virtual conference will be our best offering yet. From out different tracks to all the ways you will be able to engage with other nonprofit leaders from across the state, the Connector will help you to see why we cannot wait to see you there!

The Connector looks this month at the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic as well as a new FAQ about alcohol at silent auctions for when we are able to return to in person events. But this year we invite you to engage with us! We are accepting workshops proposals for our Washington State Nonprofit Conference. We also want our Legislature to hear from you! Our Nonprofit Voices campaign gives you the tools you need to make your voice and nonprofit heard in the long session. And we welcome the newest member of our team, Alex Panagotacos!

Welcome to the new year! To start the new year we have a new post about how to start a nonprofit in Washington. After, we explore an exercise in active listening, more important than ever as we continue to navigate the uncharted waters of the pandemic. We also want to help you be heard this legislative session! Our upcoming campaign, Nonprofit Voices, will help to ensure the nonprofit sector is represented, and we need your help!
