You joined a nonprofit board because you care about the organization’s mission. You want your contributions as a board member to positively affect the issues addressed by the organization. As a board, you want your nonprofit to thrive and make a difference in the communities served by your organization. Whether your nonprofit is just starting or is long established, getting your board in gear can help put your organization on a clear path forward.
This interactive workshop is based on the Boards in Gear resources developed in partnership with some of our state’s leading board experts. You will leave with concrete action steps, tools, and connections.
The workshop will cover:
- Board responsibilities
- Board operations
- Composition and development
- Fundraising
- Advocacy
A light lunch will be provided.

About the Speaker
Laura Armstrong (she/her) is a consultant, facilitator, and partner to nonprofit organizations throughout the region. She supports nonprofits by helping them identify their priorities, improve their systems, see their strengths, and develop their people. With extensive experiences in leadership and organizational development, Laura’s values of collaboration, equity, and justice drive her work. She has a particular passion for people and organizations in her local central Washington communities. Working across English and Spanish, Laura dedicates her consulting work to building healthy, vibrant, and transparent organizations in pursuit of a more equitable and just world.
