A nonprofit board is not and cannot be static. To be effective, they must change and evolve just as their organizations change and grow. This workshop provides nonprofit leaders with a frame of reference to better understand a board’s challenges, help them move away from missed opportunities and personality clashes, and have more focused conversations and successful problem solving.
Specifically geared to nonprofit leaders, this session covers:
- Nonprofit lifecycles for the board and organization
- Lifecycle indicators and governance challenges
- How board roles, functions, and composition typically change through the lifecycles
- Organizational transitions as critical junctures in the lifecycle process
Learning Objectives
- Gain a clear understanding of how your nonprofit’s and board’s life stage can help frame critical conversations, inform strategic decisions, and offer a starting point for capacity-building.
- Acquire skills to clarify the board’s role, purpose, and functions to improve the effectiveness of your nonprofit.
- Recognize when you’re in a transition that signals a lifecycle stage
