The 2025 Washington State Legislature passed Engrossed Substitute Senate Bill (ESSB) 5814, which added new business activities to the definition of retail sales. As a result, businesses and nonprofit organizations will be required to begin collecting sales tax on the following services starting Oct. 1, 2025.
During this presentation we will discuss:

- Existing contracts

Josh Basher is a Tax Information Specialist and works on the Education and Outreach team at the Department of Revenue. The Department of Revenue is Washington state’s primary tax agency, nationally recognized for innovation and quality customer service.
