Who Should Attend
This workshop is designed for board members and the people who work with them, namely executive directors and program staff. It offers ideas for new board members and those who have served for a long time. It is appropriate for organizations of all sizes, whether they have staff or not.
Important Information about Safety and Health
To ensure the health and safety of attendees at our in-person events, NAWA will follow guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and local health authorities regarding infectious diseases such as COVID-19. These regulations may change rapidly, so please check current government guidelines for the event location before attending. Please do not attend an in-person event if you feel sick or are showing symptoms known to be associated with COVID-19 or another infectious disease. NAWA will provide masks at all in-person events and anyone attending should feel comfortable requesting or wearing one.
Accessibility
Interpretation: Please indicate during registration if you have an interpretation request. Typically, we need at least two weeks in order to schedule an interpreter.
Visual Descriptions: Presenters will include visual descriptions of themselves and the slides to give a person who is low-vision or blind a sense of space and place.

About the Speakers
Erick Seelbach (she/her)
Erick graduated from The Evergreen State College with a Master of Arts in Teaching. For over 20 years, her work in HIV led her to many different corners of volunteer, nonprofit and government settings: as a participant in HIV vaccine and prevention research studies, a leader of various research community advisory boards, a graduate of several leadership institutes, an outreach worker, a technical assistance and training provider, a grant writer and reviewer, a conference planner, and more. Erick served as the Executive Director of PCAF (Pierce County AIDS Foundation), chaired the Pierce County Human Services Coalition, and served as the President of the Board and later as the Interim Executive Director of the Nonprofit Association of Washington. Currently Erick owns and operates The Liminal Mirror, a coaching and consulting business, and works with Interim Executives Academy on nonprofit leadership continuity solutions.
Julia Hunter (she/her)
Julia has been on the Nonprofit Association of Washington team since 2017, and currently serves as the Learning Manager. Over the years she has supported nonprofit workshops across the state, hosted webinars and virtual gatherings, and contributed to NAWA’s nonprofit learning curriculum. She has a Masters in Literature from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, focusing on teaching, grant writing, and postmodern theory. Before that she completed an Americorps year in Atlanta, GA, where she found her vocation in supporting nonprofits. Currently she serves as an advisory board member, grant writer, and regular volunteer in her community.
