Your organization did a lot of work to set the strategic direction for the planning period, and nobody wants the plan to sit on a shelf or get archived on a server never to be referenced again. The Implement stage is when your plan comes to life. Now is the time to utilize your action plan or annual work plans to complete specific objectives and make progress towards achieving your strategic priorities.
When your organization uses its strategic plan as a guide, your people and resources are focused, aligned, and results-oriented. By meeting objectives and fulfilling strategic priorities, your organization’s motivation, morale, and momentum can grow. As you implement your strategic plan, you hold yourself accountable to the individuals and groups who care about and are invested in your nonprofit. Also, the Implement stage provides space for adjustments and learning that can be incorporated into future strategic plans.
