Mid-Year Update
Last year, Washington Nonprofits brought you a report on the economic impact of the nonprofit sector on Washington State’s economy and demonstrated the impact COVID-19 had on nonprofit employment through December 2020. We are happy to share that based on updated employment data through June 2021, we have just published a mid-year update. Data from the Washington State Employment Security Department shows that through the first half of 2021, nonprofit job recovery slowed compared to the second half of 2020. The nonprofit sector is also recovering more slowly than the rest of Washington’s economy, demonstrating the continued need for policymakers to support nonprofit sector recovery as community-based organizations lead pandemic recovery efforts.
