Advocacy Building Blocks: An Introduction to Advocacy for Nonprofits

Tiffany became Nonprofit Association of Washington’s Policy Director in October of 2022. She brings 10 years of experience in social work, public policy, and advocacy across disability rights, voter engagement, education, childcare access, and healthcare. She received her Bachelor of Arts in International Studies and Spanish from Seattle University and her Master of Social Work in Administration and Policy Practice from the University of Washington. Tiffany is passionate about supporting nonprofits, their workers, and those they benefit to advocate for a thriving Washington. When she’s not deep-diving into a policy proposal or meeting with advocates, Tiffany is often found baking up seasonal treats for the gluten free community. Tiffany will say yes to any invitation as long as her dog, Yuki, is invited too.

HyeEun Park

HyeEun has spent years leading legislative agendas and advocacy, building relationships and mobilizing coalition members statewide. She has more than 15 years of experience in community organizing, political campaigns, and government relations. Previously, HyeEun served as a senior policy analyst for the Washington Black Lives Matter Alliance, where she shaped the legislative agenda and garnered support for life-saving policy and direct investment in Black communities. As a program manager for King County, she helped mobilize record turnout among historically and currently undercounted people in the 2020 Census. She also served as a political strategist for YWCA Seattle, King, Snohomish, and health policy coordinator at Children’s Alliance. Before moving to the Pacific Northwest, she lived and worked in Korea, organizing for women and children around reproductive rights. To move anti-racist policy, BIPOC folks must not just be at the table, but build their own table and lead the redesign of policies and systems.

She earned an MPA from CUNY Baruch as a National Urban Fellow and a BA in history at the College of St. Benedict. Outside of work, she enjoys eating out at different restaurants, spending time with friends, and volunteering

Sean Flynn, General Counsel, Washington State Public Disclosure Commission

Sean has worked at the PDC since 2018. Prior to joining the PDC, he served as nonpartisan legal counsel with the Washington State House of Representatives and appellate program manager at the Office of Public Defense. Sean is a graduate of the University of Colorado at Boulder and the University of Notre Dame Law School, and he clerked at the Washington and New Mexico supreme courts.

Ladelle Fuquay, Filer Assistance Specialist, Washington State Public Disclosure Commission

Ladelle has worked for the PDC for the past 17 years in a variety of roles. Since she joined the agency, it has gone from paper-filed reports to electronically filed reports available to the public within minutes, while filers have moved from traditional advertising to various forms of electronic media to get their message out. She enjoys helping customers understand and comply with PDC law.
