As trainers, facilitators, and nonprofit staff holding spaces for learning and community, how do we practice curiosity and explore what success means within ourselves in order to build a culture of inclusion and belonging with groups we serve? Through this two-part series, you will learn about the practice of curiosity, gain more clarity around what success means to you and others, and increase your self-awareness as a trainer. Join us for this year’s Train the Trainer series as we strengthen and enhance our collective training practices.
Session 1: Introduction to Practicing Curiosity
CuriosityBased likens curiosity to a practice instead of as an external personality trait and practicing curiosity is harder than it looks. We might realize it can be difficult to practice curiosity at times, especially when we’re upset, disappointed, or angry. This reflective, interactive session will guide you to practice curiosity by breaking it down into actionable steps. In the end, you will practice inward and outward curiosity so you can improve your communication, relationships, and training spaces.
Learning Objectives:
- Increase self-awareness by recognizing when being curious is difficult
- Deepen relationships by demonstrating reciprocity and vulnerability
- Communicate clearly by listening, asking questions, and sharing specific examples
Session 2: Introduction to Explore What Success Means to You
You will be guided to articulate the ways you individually think about success in your life. You will get to reflect on examples of what success looks like and feels like to you, as well as what to do and avoid doing to support your goals. Then you will look for alignment and misalignment across these expressed visions and feelings of success. At the end, you will hopefully gain more clarity of what success means to you and others through the practice of curiosity.
Learning Objectives:
- Increase self-awareness around goal-setting
- Connect and deepen relationships with others
- Strengthen communication skills
