Learning and Engagement Roundtable: Boards

Event Details

Tuesday, May 21, 2024
10:00AM – 11:30AM PT
Shadle Park Library Classroom, Spokane, WA

The board is a vital part of any nonprofit. They guide nonprofits towards mission achievement through a complex landscape of regulations, funding opportunities and challenges, other organizations, and many more considerations. Join us for a conversation about strong boards and governance. Connect with tools and resources from NAWA and learn from your nonprofit peers at this roundtable. Come with your questions and challenges and be ready to share.

If you are attending the Washington State Nonprofit Conference Spokane Regional Celebration, this will be a great follow-up to the panel discussion on boards. If you are not attending, the Regional Celebration, we look forward to connecting with you!

There will be a lively conversation facilitated by NAWA’s Interim Executive Director Erick Seelbach, networking, coffee, tea, and snacks.

Optional preparation: The Boards in Gear Toolkit and Boards in Gear On-Demand Webinar are available to you any time and are a great starting place for basic board responsibilities.

Cost

This roundtable is free to attend, thanks to support from the Washington Office of the Secretary of State.

Who Should Attend

This roundtable is geared towards nonprofit board members, EDs, and anyone that work with boards.

About the Speaker

Erick Seelbach (She/Her), Nonprofit Association of Washington, Interim Executive Director

Erick is a graduate of The Evergreen State College. For the past 20 years, her work in HIV led her to many different corners of volunteer, nonprofit and government settings: as a participant in HIV vaccine and prevention research studies, a leader of various research community advisory boards, a graduate of several leadership institutes, an outreach worker, a technical assistance and training provider, a grant writer and reviewer, a conference planner, and more. Erick served as the Executive Director of PCAF (Pierce County AIDS Foundation) and chaired the Pierce County Human Services Coalition. Currently Erick owns and operates The Liminal Mirror, a coaching and consulting business, and served as the President of the Board of Washington Nonprofits. Outside of work, Erick is a poet and a member of the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, the Abbey of St. Joan.
