Nonprofits need accurate and up-to-date resources to support their governance, finance, and compliance efforts. By building a solid foundation, organizations can develop and progress on their own terms. This is why NAWA’s team worked tirelessly to enhance our Nonprofit Fundamentals resources, which include the Boards in Gear, Finance Unlocked for Nonprofits, and Let’s Go Legal materials.

Also, how people engage with resources changes over time. Individuals and organizations need options to learn at their own pace as well as access to multiple points of learning like workshops, guides, samples, and more. The expanded guides have additional activities, worksheets, reflection questions, and interactive resources. The refreshed videos bring in the voices of more local leaders and board members that reflect the diversity of the nonprofit sector in Washington.

Whether you are new to nonprofits or have spent your career in the sector, there is something for everyone in the Nonprofit Fundamentals materials. The resources were crafted to empower peer learning. We want you to share with others and have the confidence to lead continued learning activities with your own board, staff, or volunteer team. We are excited for you to engage with the enhanced resources and new online formatting.

We believe that active ongoing learning is essential for any nonprofit, and that improving the accessibility of NAWA’s materials and learning spaces is critical to supporting all nonprofits in achieving their mission. Consistent and cohesive formatting, tables of content, chapter outlines, and summary pages, as well as visual descriptions, closed captions, and transcripts with the videos helps expand access to the materials.

The knowledge, experiences, and collective voice of nonprofits across the State is powerful. In partnership with the Washington State Office of the Secretary of State, Corporations & Charities Division, NAWA worked with Communities Rise, Jacobson Jarvis & Co, PLLC, and RVC Seattle on the enhancement of these resources. Also, we are grateful to all the nonprofits who take part in our workshops and use our materials, your feedback helps guide efforts to create exceptional resources.

The Nonprofit Fundamentals workshop series is delivered online three times a year and at different times of the day, so you can join a session that works best for your schedule. NAWA is pleased to return to in-person workshops around the state that offer a deeper and more interactive learning experience. Our next in-person series is in Seattle and begins with Boards in Gear on Wednesday, December 7, 2022 from 4:00pm-7:00pm.

All the materials are available for free on NAWA’s website, visit nonprofitwa.org/learn to get started. NAWA is here with resources to help your team keep on learning!
